It's Barbour Time

Barbour season is upon us which was a great reason to visit the new Georgetown store in Washington, DC. I got my first Barbour wax jacket in 6th grade and I still have it. The jacket certainly has plenty of character after all those years.

  4. Love that orange Liddesdale. I purchased a Barbour coat for Hubby last year for our anniversary. How I love that coat (I think he does, too!)

  11. Erin, What do you think of field coats? I've been a fan of the LL Bean original field coat as it is a great utility coat, while still looking look in the 'burbs and city. I am not familiar with Barbour, but many people are fond of the Beaufort.

  12. The L.L.Bean field coat is a classic. However I prefer the look of wax jackets...the Beaufort would be a great style for your first Barbour. Another classic style is the Bedale...that is what I have and I love it!

  13. The fact you still have your 6th grade jacket shows how durable they are, really, one can almost last a lifetime. :)

Voted for you again, and crossing all fingers (and toes) that you win!!

  14. While we haven't met Jana, I've been in the store twice now and was most unimpressed by the sales staff.

My sister purchased a Bedale, but it was largely due to my knowledge of Barbour's products and not the assistance of the staff that whittled it down after trying the Utility and Beadnell.

Next time we are in the store, we'll be asking for Jana for any assistance.

On a side note: JB&S ltd is probably kicking themselves for not moving in sooner. Any time you are in G-town you can spot no less than 4 Barbour bags on the M St/Wisconsin Ave axis.

  16. I've been wearing Barbour since the late 70's, not everyone is a fan of the smell of the wax cotton! Like that of the smell of pipe tobacco it takes getting use to! If you're married clear it with your spouse about smell of the jacket before you make your purchase, if not you'll get constant ranting on how much the jacket smells in close quarter aka your car. Fear not the smell will fade in time. Love my Barbour's! PS some quilted versions are not made of wax cotton material.
