Run for the Roses Recap

Anticipation for the Derby was building prior to the race when I spotted a friend wearing this Vineyard Vines tie from the Kentucky Derby Collection.

The day before the Derby this photo of a pink Vineyard Vines tractor was posted on their Facebook page.

I have a feeling these Whale Derby hats will be heavily sought-after when they sell out.

I am curious who purchased the $1,000 Mint Juleps from Woodford Reserve and Tiffany & Co. There were 103 mint juleps for sale and they contained ice made from rainwater where the air is the pourest in the world.

Animal Kingdom with John Velazquez won the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.

I was thrilled when JCW and I got Animal Kingdom in the pool and even more thrilled when we took the pot.

Special thanks to Dixie's parents for having us over to watch the Derby and congratulations to Lawyer Liz for running her first half marathon! xx

  6. Congrats on winning the pool. I picked up that hat a few weeks ago and when I wore it to Eastern Market Saturday several people asked me about it.

  10. Congrats on having the winner! We certainly didn't, but had a great time anyway. The man in the box in front of us was sporting that VV tie - very sharp! Not sure who bought the Tiffany's juleps, but by the time Derby rolled around, there wasn't a julep to be found. I had my share earlier in the day, but for Derby had to sip upon a bourbon and water. :(
