The Carlyle

Last month JCW and I went to NYC to celebrate my birthday. We made dinner reservations at The Carlyle on the Upper East Side.

We were very fortunate to have seen the legendary Bobby Short perform at Cafe Carlyle many years ago.

The Carlyle is synonymous with the Kennedys. They owned an apartment on the 34th floor.

If those walls could talk...the hotel opened in 1930 and it certainly has a lot of history.

After dinner we decided to head downtown and meet JCW's brother at The Standard for drinks.

    Fun way to spend the birthday!! You both make quite a dashing pair..love the Carlyle, its so steeped in such glamorous history and then the Standard is like its modern day conterpart. Happy birthday!

    Wow! Bobby Short and the Cafe Carlyle that brings back memories! I recall Bobby Short was great friends with Gloria Vanderbilt. I'm dating myself Bobby use to do a women's perfume TV commercials in the 70s for fragrance called "Charlie". EAS it looks like you had a wonderful birthday! Cheers!

    I know exactly where the Carlyle is- excellent choice. However, I know the Standard even better...so much fun! Did you make it into Le Bain?
