Sagamore Farm was purchased by Kevin Plank, CEO of Under Armour in 2007. His goal was to keep the tradition of thoroughbred racing alive in Maryland.
The farm was founded in 1925 and owned by the Vanderbilts.
Sagamore was home to the legendary horse Native Dancer who won the Preakness and Belmont Stakes races in 1953.
Native Dancer 's grooming trunk still sits outside of his stall.
You can even pay your respects in the graveyard.

ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Owings Mills, I used to drive past the farm every few days...for years. I now live in Pikesville...but my son, DIL and grandchildren live 5 minutes away from the farm, so I still get out there often. One of my favorite drives is across Shawan to Hunt Valley!
