There were five races throughout the day and I was excited to see some Maryland horses I recognized win.
Cake Walk, sponsored by the Virgina Lottery
Duff from "Ace of Cakes" was judging the competition.
This was by the far the most unique needlepoint piece I have ever seen...after meeting this character, I was trying to figure out what his needlepoint belt symbolized. I finally asked and he replied " It's everything I don't like...dogs, children and ugly women". I was a little taken back...but to each their own!
What wonderful photos! I love the one of all the hats!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun day! I definitely want to go next year! And the needlepoint guy, is he expecting to pick up women with that belt? He may be disappointed... Have a great day! xoxo
ReplyDeletegreat pictures! that cakes is very impressive also
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful time!!! I bought that same J.Mac dress to wear during race season at Saratoga this summer, its just perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos! I love Virginia Gold Cup, and it looks you had a fantastic day.

ReplyDeleteOh My. What a belt and what a statement! Hilarious! Those pics made me hungry for food, horses, and hats!
ReplyDeleteOh how I miss those days at Gold Cup. Went to Radford University and all my sorority sisters and I looked forward to dressing up with our dresses and hats. Great pics!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of a great race day...Your horse themed shirt is very sporty!
ReplyDeleteThat guy and his belt ...a tad obnoxious,no?
That belt isn't all that unique...can be found in stores. It represents crying babies, those little yippy pug dogs, and fat women.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen a needlepoint belt of that nature...who know there was a market! Does anyone know the name of this pattern?
ReplyDeleteThat cake is da bomb, that belt hysterical and I am still kicking myself from walking away from that J McL dress in pale blue silk several years ago...XXOO
ReplyDeleteGreat post on the Gold Cup. I do miss being there twice a year. You are so good with that camera!!
