One of our very first phones calls after setting the wedding date was to Misspent Youth. We love live music and had heard them play at a local fundraiser. They ended up having another gig but did some rearranging to play our wedding. They aren't your traditional wedding band, which is exactly what we wanted.
We were planning on dancing to Bright Side of the Road for our first dance, but both agreed we could opt out of the first dance entirely if we weren't feeling it on the day of wedding. The idea of all eyes on us wasn't something we were totally comfortable with so during cocktail hour, we scratched first dance. Randomly we started dancing to Living on Prayer and everyone gathered around us.
It was next to impossible to pick just one song that represented us. There are so many songs that remind us of one another. Now Living on a Prayer has taken on a whole new meaning, thanks to our guests that weren't willing to accept a wedding without a first dance. It's been fun, a little embarrassing and rather unexpected telling people that our first dance was to Bon Jovi's Living on Prayer and that there may or may not have been a tambourine involved.
Uhh...I think Living on a Prayer is perfect for a first dance. Well played...
ReplyDeleteI would have thought something from the Grateful Dead!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing--so unexpected, but so great!
ReplyDeletewhat a great picture-you both look so happy!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the coolest!
ReplyDeleteOur first call was to The Heat and The Coldsweat Horns. We heard them play at some random bar called The Barn on Harford Rd. I am so dating myself married 22 1/2 years, ha!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome song to remember. I wish we had decided to not do a first dance - love the song - but it takes forever and you are right, people just gawk and I hated it. Still do. I just don't like being the center of attention in that way.
ReplyDeleteBon Jovi loooove!
