Southern Point Co.

Southern Point Co. is a sportswear/accessories line that started in 2009. The Southern Point logo is a German Shorthaired Pointer. This logo was inspired by founder Brent Howell's dog Greyton.

Southern Point carries a wide selection of tradition polo shirts.

When I first got wind of this Southern brand, I immediately thought of Dixie's Dad. I emailed him the link to the Southern Point website. He ordered the Hadley button down shirt. One of his favorite things about this shirt besides having a Dixie dog as the logo was that the cuffs are large enough to fit over a wrist watch.

The Old Line Society's Benefit

About the Old Line Society...
Because of the long service of the high quality regiments, George Washington, according to tradition, referred to the Maryland units as his "Old Line," giving Maryland one of its nicknames as "The Old Line State. As Washington depended on his Old Line to protect Baltimore from the British, we can now depend on it to help the City and its charities.

All proceeds from this event supported the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.

SAS & EAS

The silent auction table was Maryland Flag themed.

Lawyer Liz and I managed to set up the table with the help of my sister.

Merchandise donated by Southern Tide.

A handsome tie from J. McLaughlin.

BlackBerry on behalf of T-Mobile.

SAS arranging the gift certificates from Kail's Court Restaurant Group.

Gift certificate from Smathers & Branson.

There were bags and beach towels galore from Jimmy and Sook.

Top notch parking passes for steeplechase races.

A generous spread of hors d'oeuvres.

The popcorn was a hot item by the end of the evening.

The crowd kept the bartenders very busy.

Happy Jimmy and Sook winners.

After we had closed up and called it a night...we found a lonely pair of Loubs. It's still a mystery to me how you could leave your Loubs especially when it was 40 degrees outside!

Special thanks to everyone that came out for our first event and supported the Wounded Warrior Project. We couldn't have done it without such generous vendors and business owners. We appreciate the donations from our local restaurants and Maryland steeplechase race contacts. All in all it was a successful and entertaining evening.

Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things...

Champagne is hands down my drink of choice. I am crazy over handbags and very fond of clutches. This Lauren Merkin clutch is the perfect size and fits nicely in the palm your hand. By now, I am sure its quite evident that I have an obsession with blue and white porcelain.

This past weekend we were extremely busy and were constantly on the move. It was nice to have some downtime Sunday night to unwind and watch Julie & Julia. This movie combined JCW’s love of cooking and my love of blogging/eating. During the movie I assured him that I would never blog about a fight!

Gearing Up For A Fundraiser

Before a big event I always try to get my nails done after I have finished almost everything that needed to be done...undoubtedly by the time I get home I am doing manicure damaging tasks.

My dress and shoes are eagerly awaiting a night of benevolence and merriment.

No party planning is complete without a trip to Party City. It's so easy to get derailed when you spy theme items and alluring pinatas.

Wish me smooth sailing for this evening's event!

Maryland Day

Maryland Day commemorates March 25, 1634, which is the day that English settlers landed on Maryland soil.

The settlers sailed the Ark and the Dove to St. Clement's Island on the Potomac River. After a safe voyage they celebrated with a day of thanksgiving.

I love all things Maryland and have done several posts exhibiting Maryland's rich traditions.

RL Fabric

I normally like the majority of Ralph Lauren prints, even the florals. However, I don't consider myself to be a floral person...it must be due to a youth spent in Laura Ashley jumpers and dresses.
