Check Please

After a lovely meal at Flemmings the boys were preparing for the check and I noticed they both had designer wallets. Both wallets had been gifted. I could never in a million years picture either one of them walking into Louis Vuitton or Gucci and buying themselves a new wallet...but they aren't shy when it comes to using them! I must say, a perk to an expensive wallet is that it last.

Classic Leather Wallet, J.Crew

Monogram Needlepoint Wallet, Smathers & Branson

Money Clip, J.Press

Alligator Wallet, T. Anthony

Repp Stripe Wallet, Orvis

What do you/your beau carry?

  2. I switch back and forth with my LV wallet and my lilac Coach wallet. Hubby loves his leather Tommy Hilfiger one and it has lasted forever! It has even survived being misplaced many, many times :)

  3. I have a turquoise Tusk clutch. It is the most perfect travel wallet that holds my passport, tickets and has lots of pockets for my expense receipts. Love a guy with a great wallet or money clip.

  5. Love the needlepoint wallet, too cute! I will have to get that for my son....he would love it. I have 3 wallets that i have had for years and switch (more for the season) back and forth, my absolute favorite which is like 3 years old and mushy and broken in and wonderful is my orange Hermes dogon wallet..it holds everything plus the kitchen sink and never looks old!

  7. Great post - it makes me want to dig out my old wallets and do a larger post.

For years, my grandmother worked for Torino leathers who is a wholesaler/private labeled for many designers and I have been fortunate enough to have two alligator wallets across the last several years.

The first is the old southern standby of the long wallet which I was told over and over again was falling out of my pocket. After beating it to @#$% (probably for wearing in the back versus chest pocket). The second is almost identical to the T. Anthony above.

    Great post.

  10. I love it!!

Their wallets are in much better condition that my husband's Gucci wallet I bought him back in '05. He's since retired it and has gone back to his old Coach wallet. I'm sure I could still get a pretty penny for his used wallet on eBay, LOL! I asked him if he wanted another, he said "no" ---the nerve, LOL! :)

Although, I wonder what he would say if I picked up another in blue? Like this one:

I bought the brown one like the one in the image above to match my Princey Boston purse, ha! ha! ha!

  12. I candidly admit I have some no-name piece of crap wallet I picked up at Daffy's on Chestnut street when my last one finally gave up. The new one is qaulity leather in any event and has held up quite well

  13. Husband carries a Mont Blanc wallet that Mother gave to him for his birthday several years ago. It's lovely. For our first (dating) anniversary, I got him a Tiffany money clip. It 'stretched out' so he no longer uses it.

One of my most treasured possesions is Big Daddy's Gucci wallet, circa 1980s, which is black leather with small silver interlocking Gs on the front corner. I went with him to buy it at the Gucci store that used to be in Ocean City.

  14. Husband and I went to Flemmings for Valentine's Day and I had the very creme brulee with berries in the photo... divine. He is actually in the market for a new wallet and we have our eye on a Gucci one (so his can match mine). Hugs!

  15. Read your post on wallets for gents and saw the response by DAM above about the "old southern" long wallet. Ive carried one of these for years (gift from my grandmother as well)and it is at the end of its life. Im looking for a good replacement and was hoping you or DAM could shed some light on helping me find one. I like the card and checkbook combination...something very classy. Would love an alligator/crocodile one. Any ideas where I could purchase or look for one of these? Brands?

Thanks in advance and great blog!
