We are fortunate to have the home of Preakness pretty much in our backyard, so we try to go every year.

SAS, Lawyer Liz and myself were inside the race track when the sweetest little girl approached us. She had 3 extras tickets to the Triple Crown Room and wanted us to be her guests. She like us had a love of pink and was immediately drawn to our vibrant dresses. Her family had a horse that was racing and they were in town from Kentucky. She turned out to be the Matilda of horse racing!
We enjoyed Black Eyed Susans in the Triple Crown Room, a private betting window and Matilda teaching us how to pick our horses.
We saw the Preakness Sundae advertised in the program and searched Pimlico to no avail.
Later we found out the Preakness Sundaes were in the infield. One of the servers was kind enough to brave the infield and bring us back Sundaes.
Matilda and her family took us down to the stables to check out some of the horses before the big race.
Animal Kingdom getting ready for the start...we loved his monogrammed blanket!

It was a win for Shackleford in the Preakness!
Special thanks to Matilda and her family for great food and great company. It was so very nice meeting you all and for only going into third grade Matilda certainly knows her stuff! xx

Looks like fabulous weather and company! Been to many races, including derby quite a few times, but never the Preakness!
ReplyDeleteGreat Dress, EAS ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat lucky girls to have met Matilda! She certainly gave you a backstage tour of the goings-on of the Preakness. Were you able to go to the paddock before post time? Before races, going with Hop to the paddock to chat with the jockey and Hop's trainer, AFA III, was always the highlight of my Pimlico trips. I have always had a teeny crush on Graham Motion and seeing his red monogram on the navy blanket makes my heart swoon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day, and how brave and sweet for that cute little girl to approach you all and invite you as her guests? She sounds adorable.
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! I love a good horse race (and any excuse to get dressed up in a pretty dress). Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! "Brave" the infield to get the drinks is right. I went to the Preakness one year with friends, and didn't know the hauntings of the infield. Bad mistake! That place is CRAZY!?
ReplyDeleteso much fun! You get to go to such amazing things. I definitely want to get to a horse race some day
ReplyDeleteExceptional photos!Thumbs up to JWC on the tie, belt, and shades.
ReplyDeleteWow...a tour of the barns on Preakness day..that is tremendous...
ReplyDeleteSee, you can always count on a Kentucky girl to treat you right! I had so hoped that Animal Kingdom would win, adding a second jewel to the crown. But, at least Louisville boy Dale Romans won with Shackleford. Love the outfits, btw. The whole crew looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI could just be your own personal artist racing beside you sketching you all the way cross the finish line....or the lilly line...
