JCW's Closet

I recently had a reader request for a blog post on what JCW wears.

Would you mind writing a post about your thoughts on how you like men to dress, Ms. EAS? It looks like Mr. JCW wears a lot of Vineyard Vines shirts.

Yes, he does wear a lot of  Vineyard Vines polos. He can be a bit of a diva when it comes to polo shirts but Vineyard Vines polos pass the JCW test.

He is a huge fan of Leatherman Ltd. belts. They are playful and allow him to sport something depicting the hobbies he enjoys. Most of  his Leatherman belts have something to do with sailing or racquet sports.

Boat Shoes are worn year round and snow is no exception. He wears them for most occasions but once in a while I must lay down the loafer law.

Khaki pants are a staple and Bill's Khakis are one of his favorites.

Another staple is a blue shirt. He always buys blue shirts and is very fond of Brooks Brother's Non-Irons. I always joke with him and say "are you in your uniform again", his uniform consists of a blue shirt and khaki pants. JCW gave me a compliment on looking good one day and I happened to be wearing a blue shirt and khaki pants, not my hottest look but at least he's easy to please.

He has an ever growing collection of bowties similar to this Starboard Clothing bowtie, which I am very much responsible for...a girls gotta have a little fun! How many of you ladies do the bowtie shopping in your relationship?

When he isn't in sailboat themed belts he wears a Tiffany Engine-turned belt buckle ...he is actually on his second one. We hardly ever bring up the belt incident that occurred on our way home from North Carolina...shhh.

All of the above can be paired with a Navy Blazer or Barbour Jacket and JCW is ready for anything!

I do love JCW's effortless style that mainly revolves around comfort, blue shirts and khakis. Don't expect any fashion forward moves outta this guy, he's proud to be a re-wearer and will use clothes until they literally fall apart...Exhibit A.

So we are down to the wire, today is the LAST DAY to vote in the Lilly Lovers contest so PLEASE show your support by voting!!! I don't want the humility JCW faced to be for nothing!

  6. back when we were newly married, the Mrs. inspected my spoils from a shopping excursion. When finding my boat shoes she looked dissapointed and said, "you got boring white boy shoes?"
I just looked at her with the "uhhhh, you have actually looked at me right?"

  9. My husband's "uniform" is pretty much the same as JCW's. Peter has never worn a pair of jeans in his life, and he has too many pairs of khakis to count :)

  11. I'm laughing about the blue shirts and khakis ... my dad prefers the same "uniform." And gotta love a man in a bowtie, I bought my boyfriend his first and he now has quite the collection!

  12. I follow a similar "uniform" and though I have a couple Leatherman belts, I am HUGE fan of Tucker Blair as well as Smathers and Branson needlepoint belts. For those looking for Bill's Khakis, just call up Eljo's in Carlottesville, VA. Being an old boy from Carolina, sockless Weejuns or Bean's Bluchers are my go-to shoes.

Have an awesome Fouth of July!

  14. Minus the vineyard vines I think J.W.C. and I have been coordinating our wordrobes and not even knowing it until now! Excellent choices! The well-worn stipped R.L. Oxford is one of my favorite shirts to wear (all the time). I think I think I even saw an LR Discovery in a past post-superb, superb, and superb! Wow! We think alike. Take a look at my page (there is an unofical trbute to you).

  18. Girl! From boyfriends to guy best friends, the bow tie is my go to gift haha! I wonder how many guys would elect to wear a bow tie without a little female coaxing haha!

  19. The Leatherman belts are great but my husband also loves the Preston belts. They have so many ribbon choices. Spencer and Clancy also wear Preston, but in a collar/harness/lead set. :-) The wonderful Preppy Princess carries them and can get any of the ribbon prints.
