Lewes, DE

Last month we spent the weekend in Lewes, DE which turned out to be our engagement weekend.

Lewes is a historic and charming little town.

The main street was still buzzing during the off season.

Lewes Canal connects the Broadkill River to Rehoboth Bay.

Canalfront Park has one of only 17 remaining lightships out of a total of 179 built from 1820 to 1952.

 We stayed at Hotel Rodney.

The hotel was a wonderful mix of contemporary style paired with traditional elegance.

The first night we had a lovely dinner at The Buttery. I ordered the crab salad special...go figure.

  2. Used to spend time in Lewes with friends from Haverford, Pa. who
had a house there. I loved Lewes
and thank you for bringing back some fond memories. The area where they have reconstructed houses from all over the state is really nice.

  3. My sister lives in Lewes so we're there all the time. Next time you're in town you have to try Striper Bites. It's my fav restaurant in town and just across the street and a block more towards the water from The Buttery...XXOO

  4. FUn! My family vacationed in Cape May, MJ and sometimes we'd drive all the way and sometimes we'd take the ferry from Lewes. It is such a great little town!

  7. Your salad looks delicious. I really need to try Lewes now that I'm all grown up. My only memories of it were killing time on Second Street and Front Street waiting for the Ferry. Gosh, I how hated our twice every summer trips on the ferry to Cape May. But I am sure I'd love them now.
