JAB's Birthday Bash

A gift for a "True Prep".

With the Birthday Boy

The band had some keen observers.

The bartender misplaced his bottle opener...who knew signet rings where stylish and functional? Thanks for coming to the rescue SAB.

Extra Butter Please

I am a firm believer that calories don't exist at the movies.

Yesterday I saw Secretariat with my mom. It was a truly beautiful story. A special scene for my mom and I was when Secretariat was born. We have witnessed foals being born on our farm and it was unforgettable. The movie opened with this powerful quote...

“Do you give the horse his strength or clothe his neck with a flowing mane? Do you make him leap like a locust, striking terror with his proud snorting? He paws fiercely, rejoicing in his strength, and charges into the fray. He laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; he does not shy away from the sword. The quiver rattles against his side, along with the the flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement he eats up the ground; he cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.” – The book of Job, Chapter 39 verses 19-24

On Friday JCW and I went to see The Social Network and we both loved it. There were a few rowing scences which took me back to my days as a coxswain.

Last year I saw some of the filming of The Social Network.

It was very cool to see the director David Fincher in action. I thought his last movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was fantastic.

It is such a thrill to see a scene you saw being filmed on the big screen.

Del Toro Slippers

Del Toro Shoes was founded by Matthew S. Chevallard, James G. Bohannon, and Nathaniel C. Wish. During their boarding school days they had visions of themselves smoking cigars while wearing velvet slippers with their school's logo. They didn't want the shoes to cost a fortune and wanted a short turn around time. As a result of this conquest they created Del Toro.

Del Toro slippers are the perfect addition to men's formal wear and a great way to jazz up your tux. I must admit when I see a man wearing velvet slippers I go in for a closer look.

The slippers are hand made in Spain. You can select from different shades of velvet, suede, or linen along with an embroidered logo. You can even have your slippers customized with your initials, family crest, wedding logo, or yacht club burgee...the possibilities are endless.

Del Toro also makes slippers for women. I am partial to the navy velvet with the ever so edgy skull and cross bones but I could also see myself in a linen monogrammed pair.

These shoes are sure to fulfill your "wildest desires".

NM Cafe and an Orange Box

I love going back to Neiman Marcus at Tysons II, in Virginia (my old stomping grounds) and one of the best parts about the store is the NM Cafe. They are always slammed and don't take reservations on weekends...but you can shop while you wait. I recently met a former co-worker of mine (Ms. YSL) for lunch.

The famous Neiman Marcus popovers and strawberry butter.

Strawberry lemonade is one of my favorites.

Tortilla soup...oh how I missed you.

I am convinced that Perrier tastes much better when it comes from Hermes.

A new little friend to go with my Birthday bangle.

Special thanks to Ms. YSL for meeting me for lunch (I had the best time catching up) and to the lovely gentelman at Hermes for getting me back on the road in a jiffy. xx

Drool List

Ever since Fashionable Caroline showed me the Cartier Love Cuff I can't seem to get it out of my head. This bracelet was created in the 70's and can only be opened with a tiny screwdriver. Hopefully this is the only type of cuff in my future.

This Louis Vuitton trunk was for sale on ebay. Carlton Kate sent me an ebay member suggestion or shall we call it a cruel temptation email.

The most amazing part about this trunk was that it had my initials "EAS" painted on its side. Was this fate? JCW sure didn't think so. The bidding ended at over 10 grand.

Lisa Birnbach wore this beehive watch bracelet at her book signing. I even asked her about it and she told me the designer but it went in one ear and out the other.

I called Neimans and asked for precious jewelry. After describing the piece the sales associate said its Verdura. I got googling and found it at 1st Dibs.

Dom Perignon is releasing a limited edition "Tribute to Andy Warhol". The bubbly goes on sale October 15th and retails for $150. Thanks to Starfish and Sundresses for the helds up.

Salute to Summer

Summer is by far my favorite time of year and I am always sad to see it end. I was thrilled with yesterday's high of 85 degrees...I am going to soak up every last bit of warmth and sunshine before the cold comes. There are so many things I am going to miss about summer...

Fresh picked hydrangeas

Steamed Crabs and Old Bay

Picking Crabs

Watching Dixie enjoy the pool.

Grilling

Summer Birthdays

JCW's smoked brisket

Alfresco dinning and all the fixins

New trends...will Silly Bandz be around next Summer? What will the latest fad be next year?

Cheers to a great Summer!

Special thanks to everyone who included us in their get togethers and for hosting such outstanding gatherings .

Columbus Day

Lawyer Liz had some difficult decisions to make this Columbus Day weekend in NYC. Any guesses? What are your favorite places to go in NYC?
