Jason Isbell

Last minute we decided to see Jason Isbell after months of listening to his new album. I can honestly say that I'll never be the same after that show. His music has a way of sticking to your soul...I realize that warrants an eye roll, but it's the truth.

Snowfall

There is no question that snowfall is magical and sometimes all you need is a little magic and some music to make a blissful day.

New York, New York

I am back from a great trip to NYC and feeling very inspired, well-fed, and still laughing. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Dance Floor

The bear was kind enough to hold my bouquet while I enjoyed the reception.

Our niece and nephew were the first to hit the dance floor. They had to live it up before their sitter came.

Mr. H was the second on the dance floor and he never left but articles of his clothing did.

The band covered everything from current hits to some favorites from our youth.

ESW, A, Lawyer Liz

There was a little 80's music...

some GNR...

and they didn't forget the classics.

E&E

The night ended with a Springsteen encore.

We couldn't have been happier with the music and are already planning on hiring Misspent Youth for an anniversary party down the road.

First Dance

 Copyright 2013 Amy Deputy Photography
One of our very first phones calls after setting the wedding date was to Misspent Youth. We love live music and had heard them play at a local fundraiser. They ended up having another gig but did some rearranging to play our wedding. They aren't your traditional wedding band, which is exactly what we wanted.

We were planning on dancing to Bright Side of the Road  for our first dance, but both agreed we could opt out of the first dance entirely if we weren't feeling it on the day of wedding. The idea of all eyes on us wasn't something we were totally comfortable with so during cocktail hour, we scratched first dance. Randomly we started dancing to Living on Prayer and everyone gathered around us.

It was next to impossible to pick just one song that represented us. There are so many songs that remind us of one another. Now Living on a Prayer has taken on a whole new meaning, thanks to our guests that weren't willing to accept a wedding without a first dance. It's been fun, a little embarrassing and rather unexpected telling people that our first dance was to Bon Jovi's Living on Prayer and that there may or may not have been a tambourine involved.

Friday Tune

I was much more of a Rugby fan that I am of Denim & Supply but I love this song. RL did a great job collaborating with Avicii and letting people shop the looks from the video. Happy Friday! xx

Around the House

I tried making Kale Chips and used black truffle olive oil for a little kick. I must admit that I would much rather be eating Pirate's Booty but it was fun to try.

Jason Isbell's latest album, Southeasternhas been on non-stop repeat in our house...only when we're not listening to Blurred Lines (the song of summer) of course.

A Lilly Pulitzer order arrived completely wrinkled and I was so glad to have the Jiffy Steamer that Lawyer Liz gave us for our wedding. We use it all the time...how did we ever live without a steamer!

Family Reunion

We just returned from a weekend in Washington state to celebrate JCW's Grandmother's 90th birthday. My mother-in law has nine siblings, which makes for a large family. I am thinking it was no coincidence that JCW waited until we were married to really submerge me into the family antics! All-in all, it was a great weekend in honor of a wonderful women and I am glad we were able to make the journey.

Wedding Blessing

A friend that I have known since kindergarten gave us the most thoughtful wedding gift...a blessing of Donna Jean Godchaux from the Grateful Dead. We will forever cherish it!

Cruise

I can't believe it's finally time to hit the highway for my bachelorette weekend. How perfect is this song for cruising? Happy Friday!

Oh Hey

Oh Hey by The Lumineers was one of those songs I fell in love with right away. Any new artists in your head?

The Avett Brothers

Two weekends ago we saw The Avett Brothers at Pier Six in Baltimore. It was a great show made even better by the venue. Not only is Pier Six super convient it's located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor right on the water so the views are picturesque.

They closed with I and Love and You. Are you a fan of The Avett Brothers?

Wyclef Jean

I heard Wyclef Jean speak last night. He has a new book out called out called Purpose.

He even performed a little of Gone Till November and 911. He was very funny and totally down to earth.

Do you have a favorite Wyclef Song? Does one of his songs bring you back to a certain moment in time?
