I spent the weekend in beantown and finally had a little time to work on my never ending needlepoint project. I am confident that one day it will be wearable...one pig down seven to go. Are you working on any needlepoint projects?

What a fabulous design! I'm hoping to learn how to needlepoint as soon as I'm done with the thesis in a month. JCW will be such a lucky guy to get this! ;)
Chilly weekend to be in the Hub!
Love the needlepoint belt...takes forever, doesn't it?! Good luck!
so impressed that you can needlepoint - so can my mother - i must learn!
These take forever! I am still working on one for T. that I bought in 2006! Good for you!
That looks GREAT! Did you make the pattern yourself or buy it from somewhere? I want to make one!
So cute! My mom made my dad a crab one and its so adorable!
Did you make it to NRO? Babe's in Boston as we speak but only for a couple of hours. And, you should get in the habit of leaving you kit by the tv that way you'll be inclined to pick it up while watching. This is really bad, and Oprah would have a coronary, but I used to keep it on the passenger seat when driving and pick it up for a few quick stitches at red lights. Quelle horreur! XXOO
That is amazing that you can do that... wow... so cute!
the belt is looking me! i've never been one for sewing, stitching, etc-- but perhaps i should give it a try! how cool would it be to have made my very own belt!
Hope you had a Wicked Good Time! Just got back from a week in Hilton Head, SC Sunny Low 80s all week!
You have to go to the resort at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC, a total paradise!
The belt has taken forever! I did a drawing and had an artist paint the canvas. JCW loves BBQ and cigars so what better then pigs smoking cigars! I have tried to work on it while watching TV but ended up not even watching or totally screwing it up. As for needlepointing and driving I can barely drive as it is! xx
Oh my gosh, I need to learn needlepoint. My mom is so good and seeing this belt is making me wish I knew how!
Where can you find patterns like that for making a needle point belt? My grandmother can needlepoint and expressed interested in making me something along the lines of the Smathers Branson belts but said that she would need a pattern to do so.
I think it is on an entirely different level, when something like a needlepoint belt has been made for you personally as opposed to just buying one from a store.
Sure and steady, that's the way to go.
My current project has 26 lighthouses, one for each letter of the alphabet. I bought this a few years ago on the Cape. It is probably 75% finished and I can't seem to get the last 25% completed. I need to get back to it and just get it done.
Suuuuuuper cute, and what a great project to work on during a flight! I'll be doing the calligraphy for my wedding invites on my flight to NY tomorrow. :)
I would also love to find out where you can get similar patterns...can you bring needlepoint on the plane?
Still working on a belt fo rme. MAde one for hubby and daughter but mine is languishing. I also have a huge canvas I have been working on for years. Sort of the never ending project!
I'm starting a golf one for my boyfriend! I'm always with him at school so it has to wait until summer! Hopefully it'll be ready! Yours looks great :)
You can buy belt patterns at any needlepoint store or order them online. www.elizabethturnercollection.com/ The process costs more than just buying a belt but it’s more meaningful and a lot of fun! You can bring it on the plane...I pack nail clippers instead of scissors to avoid any issues at security.
The Inn at Palmetto Bluff looks amazing...another reader also told me about it. xx
Such a cute idea to combine those elements he likes. I'm planning on learning to needlepoint soon - just need to find a local shop and create the design. It's looking to be a huge project, but I think it's worth the effort to make a meaningful handmade gift.
What a fabulous project. Needlepoint is on my list of things to do and learn. I love that you designed it yourself.
I have been working on the same belt for years! It is so cute, with mermaids (for me, obvi) but I always forget about it/ just don't have the time! I love that one though, very cute!

What a great design! That is going to be one good-looking belt when you finish :)
This is looking so good! I definitely want to learn how to do this so I can make a belt or two for my boyfriend!

That will be a very cute belt once your finished! Hope you had a great weekend in Boston :)
E, you are so talented. I can't imagine the patience it would take to needlepoint, as I can barely sew on a button! The belt is going to be lovely and JCW will love it! :-) Have a great week! XOXO
I adore needlepoint belts. My mom made them for my brother, Dad and I when I was young. I made a keychain for my best friend but never attempted a belt. I need to get back into it. Good luck with the rest of the pigs!
I'm impressed! It's going to be gorgeous when it's done!
