Bonobos & Tucker Blair

Bonobos and Tucker Blair have joined forces to give one lucky winner five pairs of better-fitting Bonobos pants, five Tucker Blair needlepoint belts, and five Bonobos polos. This is such a generous giveaway...I found myself thinking how much fun it would be to dress JCW up in all of these dapper duds.

We watched Wimbledon while wearing our tennis whites and sipped Pimm's Cups.

High Cotton Ties

High Cotton Ties is located in Charlotte, North Carolina and makes 100% cotton, washable, hand-made bow ties and cummerbunds. High Cotton not only offers a stylish array of plaid, gingham, seersucker, and tattersall but they will also create custom designs. There is no minimum order and the prices are pretty much the same as their regular bow ties and cummerbunds. The only requirement is they need a 1/2 yard of cotton fabric for a bow tie and a yard for a cummerbund set. This is a great way to give your groomsman something unique in the fabric of your choice. You could also surprise your sweetie by using the material from his favorite pair of pants that no longer fit him.

Southside

Ingredients:
2 oz. (alcohol of your choice) vodka, rum, gin
1 oz. lemon juice
1 oz. simple syrup
3 oz. soda water
2 lime wedges
mint sprigs -I prefer lost of mint

Combine ingredients, muddle, shake or stir, and serve on ice.

Southsides are the quintessential summer cocktail and a tradition in Maryland. Southsides flow freely at pool gatherings, polo matches, and steeplechase races. George Lee is known as the Southside guru in Maryland. He was the head bartender at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club in 1969 and he is still making his legendary mix. Lee's Southside recipe is closely guarded and very sought after. This weeks mission...track down a bottle of George Lee's Southside Mix.

Us Marylanders are lucky to have Lindsay's Southside Mix sold at all our local stops and it's also available online for out-of-towners.

Bands in the Sand

We went to the 5th annual Bands in the Sands benefit for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

EAS & JCW

My cocktail(s) of choice was a Southside.

There were some great silent auction items.

Boatyard Bar & Grill was the presenting sponsor of the event.

O'Malley's March was one of the bands that played.

EAS & The lead singer of O'Malley's March...he also happens to be the Governor of Maryland.

Al Fresco Dinning

I first discovered Outstanding in the Field while thumbing through Vogue. Their outdoor restaurant concept is innovative and admirable.

"Our mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it.
Outstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure – literally a restaurant without walls. Since 1999 we have set the long table at farms or gardens, on mountain tops or in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Occasionally the table is set indoors: a beautiful refurbished barn, a cool greenhouse or a stately museum. Wherever the location, the consistent theme of each dinner is to honor the people whose good work brings nourishment to the table.
Ingredients for the meal are almost all local (sometimes sourced within inches of your seat at the table!) and generally prepared by a celebrated chef of the region. After a tour of the site, we all settle in: farmers, producers, culinary artisans, and diners sharing the long table".

Outstanding in the Field, A Farm to Table Cookbook

It's so exciting to see more and more restaurants supporting local sustainable food.

Sorting Silverware

Do you segregate your silverware? I always load my dishwasher with my forks, knives, and spoons all separated...it makes unloading that much easier. Once you try this you will never go back to sorting your silverware come unloading time. Let me know if you already practice this method or if you think you will give it a whirl.
