City Cloud

In July we saw Tomás Saraceno's roof sculpture: Cloud City at the Met. The views from the roof of the museum are pretty spectacular on their own but even cooler when you are viewing them through Tomás Saraceno's reflective and transparent structure.

You become part of the installation and can even walk through the modular structure.

EAS & JCW

The exhibit runs through November 4, 2012. I am sure it will be even more beautiful when the leaves start to change in the park.  There is no additional charge to view City Cloud but make sure you put your name on the list to actually enter the structure before heading to the roof.

Wyclef Jean

I heard Wyclef Jean speak last night. He has a new book out called out called Purpose.

He even performed a little of Gone Till November and 911. He was very funny and totally down to earth.

Do you have a favorite Wyclef Song? Does one of his songs bring you back to a certain moment in time?

Mary McLaughlin

Mary McLaughlin is based out of Illinois and creates hand painted enamel boxes, porcelain trays and bone china. My favorite pieces are from her monogram collection.

This Monogram Porcelain Box can be customized in five different colors. I am torn between that and the Charleston Navy & White Box to have customized with my new married initials.

I love the idea of using this Charleston Rectangle Tray or the Charleston Scalloped Tray as a bedside catch-all.

The Maryland flag looks great lining the State Capitol Box.

There is a collection of New York City Boxes and I even saw one of the Central Park Boat House which is where JCW's sister tied the knot.

Mary also does custom commissions like these Annapolis Yacht Club Cufflinks.

"If you can dream it, Mary McLaughlin will work with you to create it!"

David Burke Kitchen

For my birthday we spent the weekend in NYC. When we arrived the rain had just cleared and left the city a cool July night.

We had reservations at David Burke Kitchen but they were running behind so we decided to wait upstairs at the Treehouse Bar. The menu was exactly the same as the restaurant so we ended up having dinner on the roof garden by candlelight.

I started with the Crab & Tomato Gazpacho followed by the Black Sea Bass.

JCW ordered the Drunken Brownie Island.

The meal was delicious but my favorite part was dessert.

The Frozen Arnold Palmer was unlike any dessert I had ever tasted. It was Sweet Tea Semifreddo and Lemon Granita topped with meringues and Raspberries. The flavors and textures worked beautifully.

Special thanks to JCW for a lovely birthday date night...I couldn't have asked for a better meal or weather. xx

Blogoversary

I had my 3 year blogoversary last month...time flies. I am going to be taking another day off (Fridays) so I have some more time to focus on getting my new house in order. I am not sure if this will be permanent. I have lots to share and am busting at the seams with pictures from this summer...so stay tuned. Thank you all for being so very supportive over the past three years!

The winner of the Lilly Pulitzer clutch giveaway is Preppy Pink Crocodile. Congratulations on your new clutch!

Edward Hopper

I enjoy many types of art but Edward Hopper's lighthouse paintings will always be dear to my heart.

I always seem to receive snail mail with Hopper stamps...I don't think this is a coincidence.

First Delivery

I received my first delivery in the new house. After hours of being on my feet unpacking and countless trips up and down the stairs; I ordered a pair of much deserved Ugg Dakota Slippers. Do you have a favorite brand of slippers?

Sailabration

Over the summer Baltimore hosted a Star-Spangled Sailabration which was to celebrate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the penning of the National Anthem.

There were more than forty ships from around the globe.

Lady Maryland sailing in front of the National Aquarium.

It was great to see all of the activity in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

Today we remember our country in all its glory!
