JCW's Closet

I recently had a reader request for a blog post on what JCW wears.

Would you mind writing a post about your thoughts on how you like men to dress, Ms. EAS? It looks like Mr. JCW wears a lot of Vineyard Vines shirts.

Yes, he does wear a lot of  Vineyard Vines polos. He can be a bit of a diva when it comes to polo shirts but Vineyard Vines polos pass the JCW test.

He is a huge fan of Leatherman Ltd. belts. They are playful and allow him to sport something depicting the hobbies he enjoys. Most of  his Leatherman belts have something to do with sailing or racquet sports.

Boat Shoes are worn year round and snow is no exception. He wears them for most occasions but once in a while I must lay down the loafer law.

Khaki pants are a staple and Bill's Khakis are one of his favorites.

Another staple is a blue shirt. He always buys blue shirts and is very fond of Brooks Brother's Non-Irons. I always joke with him and say "are you in your uniform again", his uniform consists of a blue shirt and khaki pants. JCW gave me a compliment on looking good one day and I happened to be wearing a blue shirt and khaki pants, not my hottest look but at least he's easy to please.

He has an ever growing collection of bowties similar to this Starboard Clothing bowtie, which I am very much responsible for...a girls gotta have a little fun! How many of you ladies do the bowtie shopping in your relationship?

When he isn't in sailboat themed belts he wears a Tiffany Engine-turned belt buckle ...he is actually on his second one. We hardly ever bring up the belt incident that occurred on our way home from North Carolina...shhh.

All of the above can be paired with a Navy Blazer or Barbour Jacket and JCW is ready for anything!

I do love JCW's effortless style that mainly revolves around comfort, blue shirts and khakis. Don't expect any fashion forward moves outta this guy, he's proud to be a re-wearer and will use clothes until they literally fall apart...Exhibit A.

So we are down to the wire, today is the LAST DAY to vote in the Lilly Lovers contest so PLEASE show your support by voting!!! I don't want the humility JCW faced to be for nothing!

Philadelphia II

The next morning we were rested and eager to start the day.

The Union League was filled with magnificent oil paintings and I loved this technique of floating them in unexpected spaces.

The first stop was breakfast.

JCW & EAS

After breakfast we took a litttle tour around the club.

On the agenda was a final visit to the The Barnes Foundation before the collection is moved to Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Center City, Philadelphia. The Barnes will close it's Merion galleries this weekend. It was very important to my mom that JCW saw the collection how it was intended to be viewed.

EAS & JCW

JCW had another item on his agenda and that was a trip to Dalessandro's Steaks & Hoagies. He had seen their cheese steak on the PBS documentary Sandwiches That You Will Like.

With the sandwich "experience" from the day before still fresh in our minds we decided to not lose faith in JCW quite yet. I am glad we gave him the benefit of the doubt because it was the best cheese steak I had ever eaten and I don't even really like cheese steaks...when in Rome!

On the way home we made a pit stop at Cracker Barrel.

I was dying to get a Peg Game ever since I beat JCW a few years back...he will never hear the end of it! What do you like to do in Philadelphia?

Special thanks to BLS for such a fun weekend....consider yourself warned that hanging with JCW will add inches to your waistline! xx

There are only 2 more days to vote in the "Lilly Lovers" contest, so remember to cast your votes. I am very excited to see what 3 photos the folks at Lilly pick out of the Facebook top 20!

Philadelphia I

The week before JCW's graduation my mom took us on a trip to celebrate.

We stayed at The Union League Club of Philadelphia.

Most of the spaces in the club were traditional with modern twists.

After checking in, lunch was the only thing on our minds.

We headed to Reading Terminal Market.

JCW had seen DiNic's on Man vs. Food so we made our way to the end of the line.

I didn't want to have food envy so I ordered the same thing as JCW... a whole roasted pork sandwich with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone. I only had a few bites and decided it wasn't for me.

After our "interesting" lunch experience my mom and I decided to make the dinner arrangements. The restaurant at the Union League was much more our style. The hotel was buzzing with weddings, reunions and folks celebrating Penn's graduation.

After dinner we headed to the bar for drinks.

136th Preakness Stakes Recap

We are fortunate to have the home of Preakness pretty much in our backyard, so we try to go every year.

SAS & Lawyer Liz's Beau picking their horses

JCW & EAS

SAS, Lawyer Liz and myself were inside the race track when the sweetest little girl approached us. She had 3 extras tickets to the Triple Crown Room and wanted us to be her guests. She like us had a love of pink and was immediately drawn to our vibrant dresses. Her family had a horse that was racing and they were in town from Kentucky. She turned out to be the Matilda of horse racing!

We enjoyed Black Eyed Susans in the Triple Crown Room, a private betting window and Matilda teaching us how to pick our horses.

Not only did we share a love of pink with Matilda but we also shared a love of dessert!

We saw the Preakness Sundae advertised in the program and searched Pimlico to no avail.

Later we found out the Preakness Sundaes were in the infield. One of the servers was kind enough to brave the infield and bring us back Sundaes.

Matilda and her family took us down to the stables to check out some of the horses before the big race.

Animal Kingdom getting ready for the start...we loved his monogrammed blanket!

It was a win for Shackleford in the Preakness!

Special thanks to Matilda and her family for great food and great company. It was so very nice meeting you all and for only going into third grade Matilda certainly knows her stuff! xx

There is less then a week of voting left in the Lilly Lovers contest, remember to cast your votes...you may vote once every 24 hours.
