The Power of a Monogram

Image: Pittsburgh Sports Report
Long shot "Ruler on Ice" was the ruler in the slop when he won the 143rd  Belmont Stakes. One thing that set him apart from the other horses was the monogram on his blinkers. My guess is the monogram gave him an extra boast of confidence which enabled him to take the Belmont!

The mono was definitely a crisp stand-out! Always a plus, in my book.

That was a great race. Ruler was quite spirited as he was being led out...I knew he was going to be right up there. Love your blog! -e

I think you're so right! If I was a horse, I would want the same monogram treatment so I looked my best in my races haha!

I had so hoped that Animal Kingdom was going to pull out a miraculous win, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. :(

We did a(very modified)Calcutta and I wound up w/ Ruler on Ice in my hand and won it big! Clearly I now realize it was the monogram that brought it home!! ~Blair
