EAS's Closet

A reader emailed me the following regarding my style choices...

Thank you for your very sweet blog. My adorable college age daughter and I both enjoy your many fashionable insights.
Would you please share a bit of shopping information with us? We are just curious where you purchase a certain type of clothing. You might already know that you look very pretty in a strapless dress.......you seem to have a variety of solid colored strapless knit dresses or tops that are feminine and lady like......

There is nothing I love more then a strapless top or dress. You will rarely find me in a plain old sleeveless number. Over the years I have found many strapless dresses like this striped one from Vineyard Vines. I use to get a ton from J.Crew pre-Jenna Lyons. I am always on the hunt and never discriminate when it comes to stores. I can go into any type of store and find something to incorporate into my wardrobe.

My favorite shoes are hands down Gucci flats. I also love wearing wedges...my advice to a friend who never wore flats because she felt like she needed the extra height of a wedge was to "just own it" why should us shorter girls not get to enjoy the style and comfort of flats?

I am always cold so it doesn’t get much better then cashmere sweaters. However, I am a bit of a George Costanza when it comes to paying full price. So if you see me with a red dot on my cashmere sweater chances are I know it’s there!

After working in the handbag department at Neiman Marcus I am a total designer handbag snob with the exception of my canvas totes. For evening, I like to only carry the essentials in a small clutch.

I could never talk about my closet without mentioning Lilly Pulitzer. I love everything about Lilly clothing, the bright colors, the cheery prints and of course their strapless pieces.

I always wear headbands and France Luxe carries headbands for all occasions.

I must admit I use to find more at J.Crew before they started becoming fashion forward but their button downs shirts are still a staple in my wardrobe.

As far as fashion advice goes...
Know your body and what looks good on you, if you are ever on the fence about something don't buy it or return it. You should never try and convince yourself something looks good just because you want it to fit right. Just have fun, be true to yourself and don’t worry about anyone else…I guess that applies to life as well!

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend and don't forget today is the last day to enter the Samthers & Branson needlepoint belt giveaway!

Love these looks! I totally agree with the pre-Jenna Lyons comments. I've devoted at least 2 posts to my disdain for her.

Love your blog. I also worked at Neiman Marcus in Handbags at the Mazza Gallerie in DC when I was in school. Discovered Bottega Veneta and lots of other goodies.

You have such good style! I totally agree about wearing flats despite being short and I follow the rule of if it's not quite right in the dressing room, don't buy it!
