Role Reversal

One Saturday morning in September JCW asked if  I wanted to go shopping with him in Annapolis for sailing gear. My answer was um yeah...spending the day shopping was a no brainier! The first store we went to was Fawcett.

I enjoyed looking at all of the apparel and boat supplies while simultaneously trying to come up with a reason why I needed a new Patagonia.

The next store on his list was West Marine and after about 20 minutes of looking at shorts, winches, and shoes, I had had enough. The only thing I was thinking about was how to get one of the powdered sugar donuts from the boating safely class.

After he finally checked out, I grabbed the bag and bolted to the car thinking we were done.

Little did I know there was one last stop...Annapolis Performance Sailing. I actually found myself acting just like JCW did when I dragged him to Star Monograms. You know you are totally over it when you would rather be outside of the shop! This was a first for me but now I am going to have a little more sympathy for JCW.

Have you ever had a shopping role reversal with your beau?

Whenever I go shopping with my husband for things I'm not interested in, I feel like this. When it gets really bad I tell him that my feet hurt up to my neck, and he knows to take me home.

I think that is awesome that he likes to shop!

Kevin likes walking around Brooks Brothers and sometimes I'm like helloooo enough is enough but most times he gets over it before I do. Ha!

Yes....whenever we go to West Marine looking at boat stuff. At least when he goes shopping with me, he can say yay or nay to outfits. You can't do that in a boating store because I don't know what anything is for!

I can completely relate! My eyes glaze over and my mind wanders elsewhere. I feel much the same way when he is watching football on TV!

Hope you got the new patagonia :) I mean you definitely need to be extra warm (great for layering) when you go sailing with him...right? ;)

No, my beau isn't much on shopping. He gets what he wants and gets out.

Funny you should mention this!! Just this weekend, in Charleston, we were ready to leave. At least, I was! TEN wanted to stop into Dumas, and spent 30 minutes looking through everything. I was very patient, because he is usually waiting for me...BUT it was a very funny feeling :)

I'm with you! West Marine trips bore me... I'd much rather be shopping for pretty dresses and accessories!

Hahaha! How funny! I am usually not very interested when we do any sort of field trip to look for sporting equipment. ;)

West Marine trips are so so boring. Dick's sporting goods aren't fun either. But the worst is home depot.

Fully agreed...there is nothing worse than Home Depot! Haha

Um, yes. Every stinkin' time I dragged to the Porsche dealership. And, unfortunately, we have moved to a town that also has a Ferrari one. Yaaawn...XXOO

That is toooo funny because I actually just took my boyfriend with me to get new gloves and a vest and he's like seriously, just pick out a life jacket and let's go--you've already tried on 5 black ones just pick. Whereas when we go to Neiman's to get him jeans I could just die. I know I should be greatful that he wants to look decent but instead of just meeting me in the shoe section he insists I get a preview of every cut and wash they have to offer before making a decision. uuugh and they say we have shopping problems...
