It's exciting to start thinking about the wedding registry...even though there are plenty of other things that need to be done. I was looking at a Le Creuset Tea Kettle and told JCW that I liked it except where it said "Le Creuset", he quickly informed me (with a grin) that was just a sticker and that we would be peeling it off.
Another option would be this Copper Tea Kettle and than I wouldn't have to be reminded of my Le Creuset wedding brain moment.
We love sparkling water so the idea of being able to make our own with this Sodastream sounds pretty cool...our carbon footprint is already thanking us.
Speaking of carbon footprints, JCW has been obsessed with the Nest Thermostat after seeing it on Sunday Morning. Nest can lower your heating bill by learning your schedule and programming itself. You can even control it from your phone. I tend to steer away from anything that looks too modern so my only qualm is purely aesthetic.
I have wanted a garmet steamer forever but I am undecided on an upright or handheld. One perk of the upright is feeling more like LC from The Hills while steaming clothes and pretending I am at my fashion internship.
What were some of your favorite items from your registry?

The kids and I bought Hubby a Soda Stream Penguin this past Father's Day and he uses it all the time. It would be a great buy! As for wedding registry, I still adore my Kitchen Aid mixer. Happy Shopping!
I have an upright steamer and I love it, but I'm thinking about getting a handheld one for travel. Once you start steaming, it's hard to go back!
My favorites were kind of random. Of course we loved the typical stuff, like the food processor and the stand mixer. But the Cuisinart ice cream maker is so much fun in the summer!! And I definitely geeked out about getting all new flatware and everyday china :)
I still want a le crueset kettle. Surprisingly no one purchased off registry. Going to add that to my vday list.
Grapefruit spoons, our williams sonoma waffle maker and silver pieces like carving set and salad servers. Oh and white monogammed napkins.
Have so much fun registering. It's like your birthdAy everyday when the ups/fedex trucks leave a present on your doorstep every single day for months.
my boyfriend's family has a soda stream and their dog freaks out every time they use it! Apparently it makes some sound only dogs can hear!
My most used registry item (besides our everyday dishes and flatware) is my Kitchen Aid Mixer. We use it alllll the time. I do love to be in the kitchen which helps. I also love our griddle b/c it makes it so much easier to make a big breakfast on the weekend or when we have people over. I love that copper teakettle- it's beautiful! All of my LeCreuset items have held up so well, I highly recommend a dutch oven as a kitchen staple.
I registered for the Le Creuset tea kettle in red and love it! If you do decide to get a steamer, may I recommend the Jiffy J-2000? It's the gold standard and I've loved mine for years! Not too pretty to look at it, but it really is a workhorse and you can usually get it discounted on Amazon. I thought I was the only one who got through my pile of laundry pretending to be LC! :)
I've been married for a million years - my advice: register for the very good everyday dishes and matching serving pieces. I have Lenox everyday dishes and have been using them for 18 years. They hold up great, don't chip and are timeless.
I have an upright Conair steamer (I think it is from Target). It was only about $50 and is my favorite tool. Perfect on my linens and all of our clothes!
My upright steamer is a life saver. We even dismantled it and brought it to an out of town wedding!
JFC has been obsessed with the Nest for months but I had the same aesthetic concerns. (Is the display really that BLUE in person??)
Outside of practical items, some of my favorite wedding gifts were monogrammed crystal and silver pieces that were not even on the registry. I am reminded of those friends and family when I look at these items around my house.
I've never gone through the "registering" process, but can say that you will NOT regret getting a steamer. I use it at least 4-5 times per week! I have an upright, and was all set to argue the case for an upright until I saw a poster above say how handy (ha) a handheld one is for traveling. Maybe register for both and buy whatever one you don't get after the wedding? I'm on team steamer!
Ooooh, I like the copper one..so pretty!
And if you don't already have a KitchenAid stand mixer, I'd say that is a must for the registry, in a fun color, of course!
Favorite gifts - crystal decanters for our bar and wine, our Kitchenaid mixer, our Le Creuset cast iron pieces and tea pot, our Tiffany sterling place settings, our steamer, All-Clad waffle maker... oh gosh, lots of things! so much fun to give and to get.
We had so much fun registering! Even though we got married 5 months ago (wow time has flown) we are only getting to use our wedding gifts now that we have moved. John's favorite was the amazing very fancy coffee maker that we scanned but had no idea people would get for us. He has corrected me that it's not "just a coffee maker" many times! I think my favorite items were our bedding and of course the Kitchen Aid Mixer. Our bedding has our married monogram on it! It just feels so homey. Have so much fun registering!
I love my LC tea kettle. I use it daily. The copper one is gorgeous. You need a steamer NOW. I use mine daily. I got it before the wedding so that I could use it on the wedding day to steam my dress and the bridesmaids dresses in case anything got wrinkled. I steam more than I iron now. It is also great to freshen wool sweaters/delicates in between dry cleanings.
I have that same copper kettle and I love it....looks so gorgeous on the stovetop! Also, I have a few pieces of Ruffoni copper cookwear from Williams Sonoma which I am obsessed with.
Other musts to register for.... a Dyson vacuum, waterford highball glasses and Kitchen Aid mix master!
Oh, how exciting to be registering. Truth be told when I need hot water I nuke it or boil it in a pan but I have the coolest kettle that when the water boils the pressure makes a rocket spin around the outside.
Thanks for entering my give-away. I'm having a Vera Bradley give-away next week. Hope you come back to enter. :)
I have the LC tea kettle in white and love it! The other two things I registered for and love/use all the time are a good set of knives (I went with Shun) and a food processor. I also registered for a kitchen aid standing mixer andi do like it but i've found I use my food processor so much more to make sauces, homemade pesto, etc.
By far my favorite thing to register for was my fine china. I was such a nerd about this! I also registered for some pretty serving pieces that I was so happy to receive.
Oh also, I registered for a Miele vacuum. It's the best!
An upright steamer would be a great purchase. My handheld one does not work NEARLY as well. They are pretty big, though, so think about where you would keep it and whether it would bother you there. They lower your dry cleaning bill too as it's actually bad to over dry-clean clothes and this increases time between cleanings.
Just a note of caution to the copper Le Creuset tea kettle: I have had two of them and as they do not have a whistle, two of my family members (who shall remain nameless) left the kettle to boil and it did, until it was dry, totally ruining the kettles. I now have a kettle with a whistle and it's not copper :(
Thank you all SO much for the wonderful registry feedback. I can’t wait to steam some clothes and boil some water! xx
Never registered - first wedding was in 1974 with a very small guestlist - and I was very young and not really into the whole "wedding" thing - didn't even wear a white dress! Second wedding was in 2004 - larger this time, but still small (60 people), no white dress again (would be silly), and we had too many things merging 2 households! Since then, we have purchased a lot of very good items - waffle iron, good knives, good pans, and I just ordered a Kitchenaid stand mixer - about time, don't you think?
When I met my husband he had the cutest little sign in his kitchen that his Mom gave him "Instructions on how to boil water" - I do love a good tea kettle and also great white china! We love our nest thermostats and would love to have a steamer....
pve
I have that tea kettle- love it! Although we pulled the sticker off too :) and as for a steamer the best one is a Jiffy- I received mine as a gift and I have spotted it in numerous stores since (J.Crew, Nordstrom, Bloomies)
