The Tavern's New Look

The Mt. Washington Tavern is back in business. They reopened their doors after a devastating fire in 2011. The renovated space looks great, complete with a brand new shuffleboard table and a beautiful upstairs bar.

The upstairs dining room is my favorite space. It's filled with equestrian decor and Preakness memorabilia.

Coat Hooks

Jockey Silks

The original American flag that survived the fire is proudly displayed along with photographs of the firefighters.

I was so pleased with the renovations when I visited. I loved all of the light upstairs and the clean, updated look overall. It really is amazing how a community can come together and rebuild!

So happy it reopened! Working just up the hill at Hopkins - it was a lunchtime favorite. I've been there several times since it reopened and the service and food has improved each time. Having been a loyal Tavern-goer since my days at Loyola, I like that it still has the same Tavern-feel, with a fresh spin! Thanks for posting this.

I was wondering why this did not even sound remotely familiar - it's nowhere near Mt. Washington - lol!

Looks like a must-do, though!

Fantastic memories of the Tavern! Our friends rebuilt it:) Kodiak construction . Kodiak 's owner may just be the biggest Preakness fan in Maryland.

Glad that it reopened shortly before I relocated back "home" to the Chesapeak Bay area! So many memories of hanging out here in college and post-college years. The silks here and at the Manor Tavern are gorgeous, and brunch is TDF!! Can never make up my mind between a Charm City Blossom and an Icepick! ;) The salmon latkes or the lobster roll with Old Bay chips generally wins on the food choice! Cheers to MDPride! :)

We haven't been since it reopened - it will have to be a priority - we'll have to go very soon!

SMG Architecture did the design, along with the two owners. They also did The Food Market on 36th Street and Woodberry Kitchen.
