La Jolla

Last month we went to La Jolla for E&E's wedding. When we checked into the hotel this welcome bag was waiting. It was filled with chocolate, wine and sunscreen.

We arrived a couple days before the wedding so we could take in the sights and some meals. We had heard great things about George's at the Cove and couldn't wait to try it.

The sunset view did not disappoint...

...either did the food. We both started out with George's Famous Soup which was Smoked Chicken, Broccoli and Black Beans. I now know why it's called George's Famous Soup, it was amazing. After the soup, we shared a bunch of appetizers like the Grilled Local Octopus.

We walked around downtown La Jolla after dinner.

The next morning we were up bright and early and so were the sea lions.

Coast Toast was on JCW's agenda so we headed to Brockton Villa.

We spent the day in San Diego and checked out the Maritime Museum but we were much more interested in touring Luna.

Around the House

I tried making Kale Chips and used black truffle olive oil for a little kick. I must admit that I would much rather be eating Pirate's Booty but it was fun to try.

Jason Isbell's latest album, Southeasternhas been on non-stop repeat in our house...only when we're not listening to Blurred Lines (the song of summer) of course.

A Lilly Pulitzer order arrived completely wrinkled and I was so glad to have the Jiffy Steamer that Lawyer Liz gave us for our wedding. We use it all the time...how did we ever live without a steamer!

Piperlime Summertime

Piperlime has a wonderful collection from Roberta Roller Rabbit and they are having a great end of summer sale. I wore this kurta that I ordered from Piperlime (unfortunately not on sale) at the beach last week. I ordered one size up for a looser beach fit.

I wouldn't mind adding these others kurtas to my beach wardrobe...

Wedding Ceremony

It was time to get married so we headed out to the driveway for a quick ceremony with a few rain drops.

Lawyer Liz taking pictures.

It wouldn't have been our wedding ceremony without something special from the Grateful Dead...

He could pass his time
'round some other line
But you know he
chose this place beside her
Don't get in the way
there's nothing you can say,
Nothing that you need
to add or do
They love each other
Lord, you can see it's true

The moment it's truly all about.

After the ceremony it was time to drive to the reception as husband and wife.

Wedding Day Rain Plan

Our portrait photo session was cut short because the sky decided to open up, JCW certainly wasn't complaining.

We literally had to run inside just before it poured.

The bar was relocated to the library indoors.

Captain Chesapeake had it stocked with his own booze. I greeted guests as they walked in the house which was totally un-bride like but couldn't have felt more right.

Our wedding hashtag: #wedding2013easjcw

We hadn't planned on a happy hour before the ceremony so the only thing to munch on were Crab Chips. Let's just say some guests really enjoyed the ceremony.

All the chairs from the lawn were stacked on the porch.

JCW monitored the doppler in true sailor fashion.

It was time to decide our plan of attack for the ceremony. We saw there was going to be a slight break in the weather so we had to go for it.

Beach Essential

Patagonia Fleece in Railroad Blue
My bag of choice at the beach was Gigi New York's All in One. It's seriously the perfect size and the white happened to go with every single thing I wore. The All in One comes in a rainbow of colors and the coral and mint are both on sale...

Ocean Break

I am heading to the beach for some much needed relaxation. See you all in a week! xx
