Bethesda Row

Memorial Day weekend we hit the road for a wedding and our first stop was Bethesda Row.

For Lunch we went to Cafe Deluxe. JCW had the Lamb and Goat Cheese sandwich with a side of Gruyere Mac & Cheese.

Keeping in mind that I needed to be in a dress in a few hours...I ordered a Beet and Goat Cheese salad. I must admit there was some serious food envy of JCW's selection.

Then it was time for shopping...I can now say that I have been to all three of the Sassanova locations. front of the Pink Palm.

We went to Georgetown Cupcake to pick up some sweets for the bride and groom.

The line was out the door, but I finally made it inside.

...with cupcakes in hand, ready to leave for Old Town Alexandria.

Before the wedding there was a little time for some relaxation and to scarf down some cupcakes.

The wedding gift bag was filled with goodies.

The "Be Well" box was such a cute idea and rather handy...can you tell the bride worked for Martha Stewart?

Twilly Addiction

I have decided to come clean...I am a Hermes Twilly addict. This is my latest Twilly fix and currently my favorite.

I try to exhibit self control when I see a new collection...but all of these just spoke to me.

A Little of This

I had plenty of pool time this weekend. My Boca Towel Clips made lounging that much easier.

JCW spent Saturday racing but was able to join me on Sunday.

Well worth the work

135th Preakness Stakes Recap

The 2010 Preakness Stakes was Saturday, May 15th.

The night before Preakness the Mt. Washington Tavern was buzzing with excitement.

Preakness morning we headed to Dixie's Dad and Mom's for breakfast.

They even had fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice.

The next stop was Pimlico.

Vendors walk around selling Black-Eyed Susans.

I prefer to get my Susans freshly made at a bar with an extra shot of Jack.

Zac Brown Band played in the infield. If you have not heard them listen to Whatever It's one of my favorite songs.

Dixie's Dad and Mom with Mr. Maryland

We were all gearing up for the big race.

Lookin At Lucky takes it! The next day we went back to Pimlico to cash out JCW's winning ticket...he bet on Lucky to win.

Polar Bear Coolers

Polar Bear Coolers are perfect for the boat, horse races, the beach, and picnics. They are a lot easier to travel with then the standard plastic cooler.

"The Polar Bear will keep ice for 24 hours in 100-degree heat and will withstand boiling water without damage. When it has to stay hot or needs to stay cold, Polar Bear is the brand that performs."

Lawyer Liz's Beau has a Polar Bear Cooler that we have used for countless horses races. You can have your Polar Bear monogrammed and there are eighteen colors to choose from.

He has the largest model and it may even hold more then advertised.

I think the grey would look great with an emerald green monogram.

I am also fond of the pink with an aqua monogram. What are your favorite color combos?

Special thanks to Lawyer Liz and her Beau for always having their Polar Bear packed with Champagne and Bud Light.

Pimms No. 1 Cup

2 oz. Pimm's No. 1
3 oz. fresh lemon juice or lemonade
Top off with Ginger ale (you can substitute with Club Soda, or Sprite)

Combine ingredients, stir, and pour over ice...garnish with cucumber; mint and orange optional.

In 1823 a bartender named James Pimm created the Pimm's No. 1 Cup at "Oyster Bar" in London's financial district.

Pimms No. 1 Cup is the official drink of Wimbledon, so if you can't make it to London at least you can enjoy the cocktail.
