Nantucket I

At the end of the summer we took a trip to Nantucket for my friend's wedding. We had a fabulous time. These are some pictures from around the island.

L.L.Bean Boat & Totes

My all time favorite tote bag is hand down the L.L.Bean Boat & Tote. These totes are timeless and affordable. They can certainly take a beating, but when they get too grimy I throw them in the washing machine and let them air dry. The more you wash them the softer they get. I love them so much that I have given several as gifts this year.

My sister, mother, and myself all got new totes last year for the beach. We each picked out a different color which helped distinguish what tote belonged to what person. Being the summer lover that I am, I prefer the brighter shades as oppose to the fall colors.

I have been pursuing a great lunch bag for quite some time, so when I found the Boat & Tote in lunch bag form I knew my search was over. I got one for myself and one for JCW.

Our new Boat & Tote lunch bags arrived and we instantly felt smarter about packing our lunches.

The September Issue

This documentary exposes Anna Wintour, Editor and Chief of Vogue. I already knew a little about Anna Wintour from an internship I did at Condé Nast Publications my junior year in college and one day I even ended up on the same elevator as the bobbed, ice queen. I always figured her reputation was fitting to how far she has come. She has high expectations and those expectations come to life on the pages of Vogue every month. I loved The Devil Wears Prada not only because of the great actors (Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep) but also because of the fashion. Seeing Anne Hathway’s character wear the designers made the clothes come to life, as oppose to seeing them on a rack or model walking the runway.

The September Issue introduced me to Grace Coddington, the Creative Director of Vogue. She started working at US Vogue the same time as Anna Wintour. I immediately fell in love with her; she is very talented and passionate about her job. She does manage to lock horns with Anna Wintour a few times in the film, which made me feel very uncomfortable. Just watching Grace constantly awaiting Anna Wintor’s approval made me a bit nervous. I sat on the edge of the movie theater seat wondering what Anna was going to reject next. It’s easy to relate to Grace Coddington and feel her disappointment when something she has worked so hard on is merely dismissed. I was impressed with how hands-on Grace is during photo shoots, she even dresses the models.

I did enjoy Anna Wintour's scenes with her daughter. It was nice to see her removed from Vogue. During another scene Anna talks to the camera about her siblings and how they don't respect what she does for a living. This scene was so powerful and depicted her as having emotion. You can see the hurt in her eyes, which is a nice variation to the rest of the film. It was refreshing to see the Editor and Chief of Vogue vulnerable just like the rest of us.

Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue ...just made it to my lust list.

Legacy Chase Eve

This time last year I was prepping for The Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. I am not responsible for a tailgate this year...which is kind of a relief. Don’t get me wrong I rather enjoy creating a spread, but it always turns out to be more work then you anticipate.

There is something therapeutic about polishing silver, yet very time consuming.

Legacy Chase 2008, before the rains came I wouldn’t consider us to be tailgating novices but we endured the elements for as long as possible before we caved and packed it up. This was not gentle rain, this was the type of rain that hits your skin and leaves a bruise.

More Birthday Gifts

After giving my Mariposa cutting board and spreader much desired attention, I felt it was only right to showcase some of my other timelier birthday gifts.

I have a mild infatuation with Lilly Pulitzer so these tumblers are very fitting.
I am from Maryland and I love anything with crabs.
Pink with bows…does it get any better?

Of course I had to show myself a little birthday love. Thanks for putting so much thought into these gifts, I love you all. xx

Happy Belated

Last week a mystery package arrived at my door. I racked my brain trying to remember if I had ordered anything or if I was waiting for something on back order? I couldn’t think of anything and I never forget an order. I am usually ferociously tracking until I see that the package has been delivered. The package was from my dear friend MMB…now MBW! My birthday fell on the same day as her engagement party back in July. With all of the commotion of the party she didn’t have time to pick me up a little something for my birthday. I was ecstatic after receiving this precious gift!

This is starting to become a tradition…Last year she gave me this Mariposa bowl, which I use all the time.

This gift was not necessary, but much appreciated! To the best besty a girl could ask for. xx
