I immediately dug in...
I was not the only one rummaging.
I managed to salvage some severely tarnished silver pieces.
It was questionable if this grimy silver would even polish clean? I am not one to back down from a polishing challenge.
I was forced to bring out the big guns...my silver polish wasn't doing the trick. I rarely use baking soda on silver because it can be too harsh and damaging...this was an exception.
With some elbow grease and serious determination...voila! My silver was all shinny and new! After all of my polishing efforts I felt like I had really earned my loot.
Special thanks to Woodward's on “The Avenue” for brightening up my day with some divine freebie finds.

Great finds!
Fab finds!!! I love old wooden tennis rackets, but they can certainly be hard to come by, especially in decent condition!
I am seriously jealous! And look at you seeing some potential in another mans junk! What a beautiful pay off! I am sure these will become treasures! And the racket, killer cute!
Great finds. I love the transformation of tarnished silver to polished -- it always amazes me what a difference a little baking soda or polish makes!
What a wonderful thing for them to do! Hmm....I wonder if I have anything lovely I could give away? That would be a random act of kindness!
I just read your "about me". Girl, we have SO much in common. Not to mention, I own the dress in your profile pic. It was my birthday dress last year;)
OMg. That is amazing. What a great find! I wonder who that generous giver is!
I did not know that baking soda had such amazing powers, either!
Thank you for visiting my blog AND for leaving a comment! What a lucky find for you! There is a blogger GYPSY FISH JOURNAL, http://thegypsyfish.blogspot.com/ holding a Silver Sunday event you might enjoy knowing about.
Meanwhile, I'm so glad to have met you and thoroughly enjoyed reading about your favorite things. It's great to know that there is another sculpture lover out there. Happy weekend.
Thanks for stopping by! These finds are AMAZING!! You were lucky to stop by. And for having polishing patience :)
What great finds and impressive patience/elbow grease! I hope one day I will luck out in some free silver :)
Wow! Great job polishing up that silver!
This is so random...because I don't know you...but I happened upon your blog and I saw that one of the treasures you found was a copy of The Book of Mormon. I am a Mormon, and I am here to tell you that you really did find a treasure. Take some time and open that book sometime. It can change your life. Enjoy!
What great finds. Your hard work certainly shows and paid off. Enjoy your new treasures.
My cousin got me hooked on your site and says you went to Roanoke ? I did too! I graduated in 92- how bout you ?
Love the Noke...about 10 years later!
EAS - can you tell us exactly how much baking soda you used to scrub away? The last time I did this it stripped the silver plate straight off...
